McCain wants tougher measures on Iran

 John McCain (photo), Arizona senator and Republican candidate for the White House, said the US should impose tougher measures on Iran, if it continues with its nuclear programme.

On Monday, at the annual conference of the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee (Aipac), he spoke in Washington to say that Iran’s “continued pursuit of nuclear weapons” posed an “unacceptable risk”.

Pregnancy tests miss abnormalities

Only half of potential chromosomal abnormalities are picked up in tests used in pregnancy, Italian research warns.
During a European genetics conference, the team behind the work said that women needed more information about their limitations, and the risks involved.

Kids return home

In Texas, a judge signed an order allowing parents to take back home their children (photo, from dallasnews.com). More than 400 kids, seized from a polygamist sect in April have started returning home.
Members of the sect were accused by officials of forcing young girls into under-age sex.
