Senator Barack Obama of Illinois received a great support last weekend, from the first lady of television : Oprah Winfrey. “For the very first time in my life I feel compelled to stand up and speak out for the man who I believe has a new vision for America” , Ms Winfrey told the crowd. The very rich and influent woman of the US performed a 17 minutes speech.
Ms Winfrey collected about 3 million dollars in California, for Obama’s presidential campaign. And she can promote him as much as she want on her powerhouse talk show, daily watched by millions of americans.
One week before the campaign pauses for Christmas, Mr Obama his showing a brand new confidence. His speeches are noticeably crisper, his poise is more consistent and many supporters say they no longer must rely upon a leap of faith to envision him winning the nomination.
Senator Obama is in the tightest competition with Hillary Clinton. The senator of New York reacted to Oprah’s arrival by bringing her daughter ahead. Both travel together now, in order to promote mom.
And the campaign isn’t only about the war in Iraq anymore. Other issues made an entrance : health care, economy and which candidate has the most chances to win the general election.
The first caucus will take place in Iowa, on January 3rd for the six democrates candidates.
