Israeli emergency services say that a man, driving a heavy construction vehicle, has carried out an attack in Jerusalem, before being shot dead.
The driver, whose identity is not immediately clear, rammed traffic, say police. Eleven people are reported to have been injured.
In a similar vehicle, before he was shot dead, a Palestinian killed three people and wounded dozens of others in Jerusalem earlier this month. It restarted the debate concerning the demolition the home of Palestinians who live in the city and commit attacks.
The attack took place in a busy part of central West Jerusalem, close to the King David Hotel where US presidential candidate Barack Obama is due to be staying on Tuesday night, during a visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories.
Driver’s body has been seen slumping in the cab of the yellow vehicle, by witnesses. One car was overturned, and two others were also seen to have been heavily damaged.
Even though there was no immediate claim of responsibility by any Palestinian militant organisation, Israeli police called it a “terror attack”.
