Dmitri Medvedev, 42, has officially been declared the winner of the presidential election in Russia. He has been backed by the current president, Vladimir Putin.

On Monday the results from the Central Election Commission showed that Medvedev won 70,23 per cent. Gennady Zyuganov, Medvedev nearest rival, received 17,8 per cent. (more…)
