After meeting the Palestinian president ,Mahmoud Abbas, George Bush (photo) has promised his commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state.

In order to protest at a new assault on Gaza that has killed about 100 people, Mahmoud Abbas (photo) has suspended contact with Israel. It came amid clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank and angry demonstrations in Gaza.
