Border crossings into the Gaza Strip have been closed by Israeli military, after a rocket was fired from the territory, in defiance of the ceasefire that started last month.

In order to protest at a new assault on Gaza that has killed about 100 people, Mahmoud Abbas (photo) has suspended contact with Israel. It came amid clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank and angry demonstrations in Gaza.

“In light of the Israeli aggression such communication has no meaning” said Nabil Abu Rudeina, Mr Abba’s spokesman. (more…)
