Silvio Berlusconi (photo, from RFI), a two-time former prime minister, has won a majority in both houses of Italy’s parliament, at the weekend elections. The leader of the conservative People of Freedom party, 71, received a phone call on Monday, from Italy’s centre-left leader, Walter Veltroni, who conceded victory to the billionaire. (more…)

National elections will take place on 13-14 April, only two years after the last parliamentary vote, said a cabinet minister. The italian president dissolved the Parliament on Wednesday, because of unsuccessful talks in order to form an interim government.

These elections will most probably see the return of former prime minister and one of Italy’s richest man : Silvio Berlusconi (photo). He is largely ahead in the opinion polls and has already started his campaign, unofficially.
